Ash Class is a small bespoke group consisting of 5 pupils with a curriculum tailored to the individual needs of the pupils including;

  • Improving their social skills
  • Support in self-managing their emotional needs
  • Accessing the community to include work experience
  • Improving their independence
  • Improving their tolerance to challenging environments and situations
  • Making progress across the academic curriculum

Maths In Summer 1 we will be learning place and consolidating our knowledge in place value to 20. We will be completing number tracks and number lines to 20. We will be learning about estimation and practising these skills in both written and in a practical context. Play number board games together. Play number games to 20 online. Watch number blocks CBeebies.
English Our theme in English this half term is going to be family. We will look at different poems and texts about family and we will also have a go at writing some poems ourselves. We will be using photos from home to make poems using adjectives and will be using our zones of regulation to talk about feelings and role play. We will be reading the books ‘The Gorilla’ and ‘My Grandma is an alien’ as a basis for recreating our own short stories. Create a family tree Tell stories about different family members Interview a family member Enjoy sharing books about family together.
ArtIn art we will be looking at the work of Norfolk artist Robert Gilmore. We will be exploring colour wheels and his use of colour. We will also be looking at different birds ad choosing some birds to paint and create our own artwork.Look at birds when out walking or in the car. Look at any artwork around the home or school and think about what colours are used.
PSHEOur topic for PSHE this half term is going to be Crime and Laws. We plan to have a visit from a local PSCO to interview them about different aspects of their role. We will learning about simple laws such as shop lifting. We will be learning how and why we use 999 and practicing what information we would need to give. We will be reading The Highway rat by Julia Donaldson. Watch some real life police documentaries. Role play with lego. Read the Highway Rat or The Baddies by Julia Donaldson. Read Gangsta Granny by David Walliams.
HumanitiesThis term we will be comparing the difference between rural and urban in our local areas. We will have local visits for countryside walks and local towns. We will be creating rural and urban landscapes using paper mache and junk modelling. Enjoy visits to Norwich City to look at and discuss the built up area. Enjoy visiting local country parks.
ScienceOur focus this term in Physics is matter. We will be comparing properties of different materials. We will be be exploring solids, liquids and gasses and learning about magnets. Explore changing properties of substaces by cooking together. Enjoy messy play using shaving gel and ice.
MFLFrance is our country for the term. We will look at some of the culture and traditions; we will try some food, and try to learn some of the language. Cook some French food. Listen to some French music. Watch their favourite programme in French, listening to the language.
MusicThis term we will have Dave Taylor from Norfolk Music service visiting school each week to run a music session with musical instruments. Enjoy listening to ad sharing favourite songs.
PfAL (Preparing for Adult Life) We will be looking at healthy eating and making and preparing healthy snacks this term. We will be looking at good food hygiene, what makes up a healthy diet, and following simple recipes to make healthy snacks for class. We will try new fruits and vegetables and see what we think of them. Help out with cooking at home. If making a packed lunch, try to make healthy choices.
