*Teaching Assistant*

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference to young people’s lives that can focus on the individual and their needs. Experience of working with SEN and challenging behaviours is desirable.

We are looking to recruit a Maternity Cover Teaching Assistant to join our school class teams.

You will be working under the instruction/guidance of teaching or other senior staff and within the overall ethos of the school, undertake care and learning programmes and activities to support individuals or groups of pupils, including more specialised support for those with special education needs, enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.  Work may be carried out in the classroom or in other teaching areas.

Full induction and training will be given to the successful applicants.

Post to Commence from 29th October 2018 (or as soon as possible).

Sheringham Woodfields School is a complex needs school located on the North Norfolk Coast. We have 110 pupils, all of whom have complex additional needs and all have an Education, Health and Care Plan.

The school is looking to recruit a full time Teacher with either experience of, or commitment towards wanting to work with a wide range of SEN and challenging behaviours. Experience of special schools and teaching children with complex needs is desirable but not essential.

The post commencement date is 1st January 2019 – if the successful candidate can join us for some of December this would be welcomed by the school to ensure a smooth transition.

It is essential that the applicant has:

  • A passion for learning and promoting independence
  • The ability to recognise and treat every child is an induvial
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to tailor their communication accordingly
  • Ability to direct a team of teaching assistants and support staff
  • Ability to plan engaging, relevant and challenging lessons
  • Can maintain accurate records of pupil’s progress
  • Be flexible and adapt positively to change
  • Show initiative and work independently
