Woodfields Den Charity Shop
Sheringham Woodfields School: ‘learning and growing together’
The Woodfields Den Charity Shop Team would like to thank everyone for supporting us with your gifts, donations and volunteer time since our first opening day, back in May 2010. Our shop continues to go from strength to strength.
Our shop is a unique safe place for our students to learn life skills and make progress at their own pace. It encourages independence and communication in a real situation within the community, helping our students to understand the world of work and preparing them for transition. The shop is often a hive of activity. The shop floor is never the same from one day to the next.
Students
Our enthusiastic students can feel part of the world of work in total safety, helping to run their shop, taking on real jobs including customer services; recycling and sorting donated stock; pricing, cleaning, banking, marketing, window dressing and many more. They are constantly meeting academic targets in English, Maths and PSHE and can also develop skills to work towards an accredited recognised qualification (including ASDAN).
Volunteers
We have a wonderful team of volunteers with a wealth of experience and knowledge including parents, past students, high school students and customers. They are generous with their time, spending anything from an hour to a full day helping to create a safe and happy place to work and a real community spirit. If you are interested in volunteering with us please contact the shop on 01263 824201. Please note that the school is committed to safeguarding and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A series of pre-commencement checks will need to be undertaken including an enhanced DBS check.
Donations
We have seen some amazing donations and thanks to our loyal customers, we know that the money raised will go to the School and the donations will go to a very good home.
We are very happy to accept donations during the days and hours of Monday – Friday 9.00am to 2:30pm.
We love good quality clothes, accessories, handbags, jewellery, books, toys, crockery, bric-a-brac, music, films, bed linen and curtains, mobile phones, old or foreign coins, suitcases, toys and jigsaws, unwanted gifts, new pillows and quilts.
We are unable to accept and sell: car seats, sharp items, electrical items, safety helmets, swimming aids, used pillows, videos, and furniture.
Recycling
Have you ever wondered what happens to the clothes and goods we cannot sell? As little as possible of your donations go to waste. All unsold clothes, shoes, bags, belts, curtains, and books are collected by a local textiles recycler who pays for every bag they collect. They sort and recycle everything, and send them overseas.
Obviously, some donations that are broken or not in a saleable condition have to be disposed of in our refuse bins for which we need to pay, which is why we have to occasionally say no to accepting items that we are unlikely to sell or recycle. We hope you will share our concern on these rare occasions.
Sales
The Shop regularly holds sales in order to ensure a frequent healthy turnover of stock, which, in turn, enables us to accept all donations rather than turn them away.
eBay
Our students also run their own eBay business. When a quality item doesn’t sell or we believe we can make more for the charity on eBay than in the shop, students select, describe and photograph items, sell, package and send the goods every week.

Thanks to all of you!
Without you, there would be no donations, with no donations there would be no shop, with no shop there would be no students learning valuable independent life skills
The shop is a real treasure trove, selling everything at very reasonable prices. Why not come and meet our students at work, donate or simply browse – you are bound to find something interesting. See you soon.
