The safeguarding of pupils is our highest priority. We welcome the great responsibility that parents and carers place in us to care for their children and we carry out our safeguarding duties with integrity, sensitivity and diligence.
We have six trained Designated Safeguarding Leads; Michael Smith (Deputy Head) is the lead DSL.
We want our children to have a safe environment within which to learn and we want to support them with any difficulties they are having outside of school.
We support children, through our curriculum, to be aware of risk whether that be in school, in the community or online. We teach them to speak to a trusted adult if they are worried or if something is happening to them that they are unhappy about or that puts them at risk of harm.
Our staff team have all received extensive training i.e. a full day’s safeguarding induction at the start of their employment and a termly training session with a focus on one key aspect of safeguarding as well as annual refresher training each September. The team also receive a safeguarding update weekly as part of the Head’s Weekly Bulletin.
Our staff know that the foundation of our safeguarding responses is to have positive relationships with the pupils, to remain vigilant, to report all concerns and to maintain an attitude of ‘It could happen here‘.
